Hull Trains appoints new managing director
FirstGroup has appointed Louise Cheeseman as its new managing director of Hull Trains.
The TOC’s former service delivery director first started in the rail industry back in 2001, working as a guard with Northern Rail, before being promoted through safety and operations roles.
Her experience includes working as the general manager for Docklands Light Railway, service delivery director for Manchester Metrolink, and two years in Sydney assisting in the preparation of their light rail bid.
Since March this year, she has been acting as interim managing director with the company.
Steve Montgomery, managing director of First Rail, said that he was delighted to welcome Cheeseman to the team.
“We have exciting plans for Hull Trains including new rolling stock which will provide more seats for our customers and also offer the potential for more reliable journeys and further customer improvements when they enter service in 2019,” he added.
Commenting on her appointment, Cheeseman said: “We will offer ambitious improvements for passengers. We recently invested £60 million in the development and production of five new hi-tech, bi-mode trains that will come into service next year.
“This will not only deliver a more reliable service, it will increase capacity and keep people moving and communities prospering as we connect the Hull and Humber region to the capital.”
She will be writing about her plans for the company and its new trains in RTM’s upcoming June/July edition, which hits desks on 26 June.
