Sydney commission for Network Rail Consulting
The global arm of Network Rail has landed another foreign contract.
Network Rail Consulting, launched in July 2012, is to be the independent safety assessor for the design and delivery of the A$8.3bn (£4.8bn) North West Rail Link in Sydney.
Nigel Ash, managing director of Network Rail Consulting, said: “This commission heralds the start of a long-term working relationship with Transport for New South Wales and coincides with the recent opening of our Sydney office as a focus for our work in this vibrant rail market. We believe we have much to offer other railways around the world and look forward to helping further develop rail in Australia and New Zealand, sharing the best of British engineering and ingenuity.”
The organisation says its primary motive is to act as an “international ambassador” for Network Rail overseas and to “help channel innovation back into Network Rail’s core business”, rather than just to raise revenue.

In May, the organisation joined a US advisory body, the Northeast Corridor (NEC) Partner Forum, aimed at helping Amtrak deliver a programme of improvements along America’s east coast.
