Network Rail’s Andrew Haines to speak at RIA dinner

The Railway Industry Association (RIA) has announced today (Jan 3) that the Chief Executive of Network Rail, Andrew Haines OBE will deliver a keynote speech at the Annual RIA Gala Dinner.

The event will take place on February 13 2020 and will see senior representatives from across the rail industry come together to celebrate 145 years of the Railway Industry Association.

The news comes on the same day that RIA announced its membership has hit a record 300 members, an increase of almost 60%, showing the ongoing importance of collaboration within the industry, 145 years after it was set up.

President of the Railway Benefit Fund, Pete Waterman will be hosting the event, which will also see a charity raffle, TV comedian Lucy Porter, a live band and a photobooth.

Darren Caplan, Chief Executive of the Railway Industry Association, said:

“This Gala Dinner marks 145 years of the Railway Industry Association, and is being held at an incredibly important time for the railway industry, with so much going on. So it’s fantastic news that Network Rail Chief Executive Andrew Haines will address the event guests and give us an insight in to his thinking, as Network Rail carries out its devolution plans and with the sector on the cusp of announcements on both the Williams Review and HS2.

“We also have representatives from across the railway industry attending – including from Government, Network Rail, HS2, Crossrail 2, Scotrail, Midlands Connect, Rail Delivery Group, London Underground, Rail Freight Group and many more. Tables and tickets are selling out fast – so for those who haven’t booked yet, do contact the RIA team now to guarantee a place for what is sure to be a fantastic evening!”
