Further transparency from Network Rail

Network Rail has published more data today about its expenditure as part of its transparency drive.

The updated figures cover board minutes, budget and costs of high profile projects, executive and non-executive director’s expenses, payment performance and sourcing cycle times, safety KPIs, and staff salary breakdown.

New categories added this month are on workforce diversity and social media policy.

Mark Farrow, Network Rail’s head of transparency said: “Network Rail continues to make information publically available. This makes us more accountable and is good for business. We remain receptive to any requests for further information that can help individuals or organisations greater understand our business.”

I find it hard to believe that in order to make itself more transparent, Network Rail has added a new category for workforce diversity! Whatever happened to employing the best person for the job? Now it seems that what is more important to a company when interviewing a candidate is whether they are a homosexual, black or a muslim. The people that fall into those categories are far more likely to actually get the job, just to satisfy those bloody lefties and liberals that suggest that any good company should have 'x' amount of gays, muslims or non-whites to make it 'fair and inclusive', rather than just quite simply employing the best person for the job, irrespective of gender, sexuality, or religion. There are now almost as many questions on a job application form asking about your ethnic background, religion and sexuality than what there are asking about your actual previous work experience. No harm to Mike Farrow, but I can't actually believe that Network Rail have a head of transparency, which would also suggest they have a department of transparency? Unbelievable. Of course, no doubt there will be the usual outcries from liberals and lefties (most of them white), accusing me of discrimination or racism, wanting me to apologise for being a white heterosexual male. By the sounds of it we are a dying breed in the UK? Seriously though, lets get a grip, lets call a spade a spade, and lets start employing the best person for the job. Maybe if we did, British industry would be in a far better place.
