Ordsall Chord

I have a feeling that the Ordsall Chord may not make that much of a difference until the bottleneck between Deansgate and Manchester Piccadilly is sorted out, by installing bi-directional signalling and new platforms at Piccadilly.

Editor’s note: This issue was explored extensively in this RTM article, by Peter Johnston, Rail Services Officer with responsibility for rail timetabling and operations at GMPTE from 1993 to his retirement in 2005, who devised and wrote the Passenger Service Requirement Specifications for the Greater Manchester local rail network at the time of privatisation.
