Siemens appoints new UK rolling stock boss

Siemens has announced the appointment of Will Wilson as its new managing director for its rolling stock business.

The appointment, which comes into effect on 1 May, will see Wilson replace the current managing director, Vernon Barker, who will leave the company at the end of the month.

Wilson, a former army officer, has worked at Siemens since 2013. He spent the last two years in Spain as head of international sales, mainline, where he led a team responsible for all global mainline sales.

His senior management career spans over 25 years, including positions as managing director for Alstom Transport Information Systems and managing director of GE Transportation.

Barker is reportedly leaving the business to pursue other interests.

Gordon Wakeford, managing director of Siemens’ Mobility Division, said: “We are sorry to see Vernon leave, thank him for his contribution to the continued development of our rolling stock business and wish him well in the next chapter of his life.

“Equally, we are delighted that Will is moving back to the UK and that we have a strong successor to take our business to the next level. His industry expertise and knowledge will be essential as we move forwards.”

Wilson will be based at the company’s London Euston office, headquarters of the rolling stock business in the UK.
