Snow disruption across London and the south

The first snow this winter has caused significant disruption to transport across London today, with long delays and cancellations on journeys in and out of the capital.

Services from Kent, Sussex and Surrey were severely affected and there were suspensions on the Piccadilly Central and Metropolitan lines of the Underground due to icy conditions.

Southeastern trains were delayed by up to 25 minutes on the line between Sevenoaks and Hither Green due to poor rail conditions. Long distance First Great Western services to and from the west of England were also hit by delays and Southern services between Horsham and Victoria were disrupted by a weather-related landslide.

No trains were able to run between Watford Junction in Hertfordshire and Harrow and Wealdstone in north west London, while snow caused disruption between London and Reading in Berkshire.
