Thameslink winter timetable includes new cross-London Saturday services
Additional through-London services every hour between Peterborough and Horsham on Saturdays are to be introduced by Thameslink from Dec 21.
To meet capacity demands, the number of direct services to St Pancras International station, central London and Gatwick Airport will increase.
Peterborough, Huntingdon, St Neots, Sandy, Biggleswade and Arlesey will have a direct Gatwick Airport service on Saturdays for the first time and Cross-London services to Gatwick from Hitchin, Stevenage and Finsbury Park will triple to three trains per hour.
Central London stations will see an increase in the Saturday service as it goes from 11 to 13 trains per hour in each direction between St Pancras and London Blackfriars.
From the 15 Dec more weekday peak Great Northern trains will be reinstated, calling at New Southgate and Oakleigh Park, after it was requested by local passenger groups.
Tom Moran, Managing Director for Thameslink and Great Northern, said:
“We are delighted to be introducing these improvements for our passengers, because we know there has been strong demand for them. This will provide more travel opportunities for existing and potential new passengers.”
Starting from Dec 16 through until Summer 2020, most weekend and late evening services running through Moorgate will be transferred to King’s Cross.
This is to accommodate essential maintenance work and cleaning of the Northern City Line tunnel, being carried out by Northern Rail
