First GBRf wins two awards

Quality of service recognised by customers

First GBRf, Britain’s most reliable rail freight haulier, has been presented with two customer service awards.

The company was recently given the accolades by Royal Mail Group and Metronet.

Royal Mail presented First GBRf with its ‘Best Vendor Going the Extra Mile’ award at its annual national suppliers’ event in early October.

The award recognised First GBRf ‘s commitment to Royal Mail by consistently delivering over and above the expected.

First GBRf’s great reliability has allowed Royal Mail to rethink its strategy on how it transports mail around the country.

The freight haulier has been a key component of Royal Mail’s Christmas network. According to Royal Mail, First GBRf has been ‘incredibly flexible and responsive’ when it has required support at very busy times such as delivering the last two Harry Potter books.

Ninian Wilson, Procurement Director Royal Mail Group, said: “I am delighted that First GBRf won the award for ‘Going the Extra Mile’.

“Royal Mail Group is looking for corporate partners with the vision and dedication to help it deliver its corporate objectives at what is a challenging time for the business. I am delighted that First GBRf has been recognised for its valuable input and support. Royal Mail Group look forward to a fruitful partnership with First GBRf going forwards.”

Two weeks earlier, Metronet presented First GBRf with a special ‘Partnership’ award.

This was for the freight haulier’s efforts during the mobilisation of the £8million a year contract it has with Metronet for upgrading track on the London Underground network.

The award recognised the seamless way staff from London Underground, First GBRf and Balfour Beatty Rail Projects worked together with Metronet.

This partnership approach enabled Metronet’s track renewals programme to meet extremely demanding delivery dates.

Clive Maxwell, Metronet's New Engineering Train Fleet's Contract Manager said: “I am delighted that the way in which the four main stakeholders worked together during the intensive and challenging mobilisation period has been recognised at the highest level. This partnership has since been instrumental in delivering our demanding track renewal programme as part of our PPP Contract with London Underground.”
