High-speed rail equals future rail jobs
The high-speed debate turned another corner yesterday
with the publication of Greengauge 21’s report, Fast
Forward, which calls for a far more comprehensive high-speed rail network than the one outlined in Network Rail’s plans.
This would be fantastic news for everyone looking for rail vacancies; more construction rail jobs, more project
manager rail jobs and of course, more train driver jobs!
There is only one problem; the government doesn’t really have much money at the moment. Therefore there is a real worry that high-speed rail might just become another project which gets left on the backburner, therefore jeopardising all of those potential future rail jobs.
However Greengauge 21, headed by industry giant Jim
Steer, have got the right idea; campaigning is the key to success.
Because the government are a fickle lot, all that the public
has to do is keep campaigning and the government will cave, thinking high-speed rail is a vote winner.
So get campaigning… quick!
