Sneak peek at new £150m Caledonian Sleeper carriages

Caledonian Sleeper has given passengers a special sneak peek of its £150m fleet of state-of-the-art carriages that are currently under construction in Spain via a new dedicated website.

The website allows visitors to get an exclusive preview at the development of the 75 carriages which will feature a range of accommodation options, including suites, club rooms, classic rooms and comfort seats – all also available in disability-friendly options for guests with mobility needs.

The pictures of the new carriages come just a week after operator Serco revealed the first of the trains had arrived in the Czech Republic to undergo key testing for a number of weeks.

As well as varied accommodation, the trains will feature a hotel-style key card system, bespoke seats designed for long journeys, upgraded panels for phone and gadget charging, and wi-fi all throughout.

The ultimate goal is to provide guests with a hotel-style travelling experience, ensuring they wake up at their final destination feeling refreshed.

Peter Strachan, Caledonian Sleeper chairman, promised the fleet will offer “a new standard in overnight travel”.

“This website is where members of the public can see the latest news on the trains and discover the exciting things we have in store. The Sleeper is already a fantastic way to travel, and the new trains will improve the service dramatically,” said Strachan.

“Providing comfort and convenience, the Sleeper allows for plenty of time for a full day of work or play, before transporting you to and from the destinations we serve – without the hassle of flying.”
