Cycle capacity boost for Upminster
A new cycle facility is to be installed at Upminster station, c2c Rail has announced.
The project includes 86 new spaces in a stand covered by CCTV, as well as 12 additional parking spaces for motorbikes. The work will use an area which is currently overgrown with plants.
Funding is being provided by the DfT’s Linking Local Communities Fund and work is due to be complete in the autumn.
c2c’s station manager for Upminster, Suzanne Linggood, said: “We know how high the demand is for the current bike stands at Upminster, with increasing numbers of passengers riding to the station.
“This demand will only grow in future, so this scheme will treble the number of spaces for cyclists at the station and ensure they can be confident about leaving their bikes in facilities which are well-lit and secure.”
