National Rail Enquiries working with academics to improve forecasting
National Rail Enquiries (NRE) is working with University College London and Microsoft to analyse the results of a real time train prediction system.
The team will measure the accuracy of NRE train forecasts, review historical performance of individual train services, and find stations where the forecasts could be improved.
The work aims to improve journey planning for passengers.
Chris Scoggins, chief executive of NRE said: “We are delighted to be working with University College London in conjunction with Microsoft to enhance our existing tools with the aim of helping our customers plan their journeys more efficiently.”
