Railtex 2017 opens its doors in heart of Midlands Engine
The thirteenth edition of the UK’s leading exhibition of railway technology, products and services, Railtex, has opened its doors today at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham.
Leading figures from over 470 of the rail industry’s major companies are expected to be in attendance at the three-day event, all taking advantage of the show’s unrivalled opportunity to offer a better understanding of the emerging and persistent trends in rail policy and technology across the supply chain.
Beyond just individual exhibitions, Railtex, which was officially opened today by the Rail Delivery Group’s (RDG’s) Paul Plummer, also offers visitors a host of free associated events, such as keynotes from industry heavyweights, project updates and display areas.
One of the main features of this year’s event will be RTM’s very own Platform sessions: three lively Q&A discussions held across each of the conference days. Today’s Platform debate will see NSAR’s Shamir Gaiger, RDG’s Sari Kaipiainen and the Railway Industry Association’s David Clarke gather to discuss productivity and the Industrial Strategy.
Platform sessions tomorrow and on Thursday will discuss rail infrastructure and the Midlands Engine respectively, bringing in major names from across the sector such as Network Rail, Rail North, Amey, West Midlands Rail, D2N2 and Midlands Connect.
Before and after each Platform session, which are all hosted during the afternoon, delegates will also be able to attend a programme of technical seminars, discussion forums and project briefings from high-profile representatives in the sector. Other features available this year include the Track display area, sponsored by British Steel, and the Recruitment Wall, where current job vacancies will be advertised.
As ever, the RTM team will be in attendance across all three days. You can find us on stand P41, where we will be showcasing our portfolio of products spanning print, online e-mail marketing and events. We’ll also be giving you an update on the winners of this year’s UK Rail Industry Awards and how you can enter next year’s competition.
We will be providing live coverage of Railtex on Twitter and reporting from the event on our website.
