Ep 10. We need to keep investing in rail, Kate Jennings

Policy Director and Lead Coronavirus Response Co-Ordinator at RIA, Kate Jennings, joined host Matt Roberts on Track Talk to discuss how the rail industry can and will respond to the coronavirus outbreak.

Kate is responsible for supporting the RIA relationship with Government and clients and is still quite new to her role. She has been thrown in at the deep end with the outbreak but she explains how through her work, with the Department for Transport and the Rail Minister, their members feel like they’re being listened to.

She divulges into RIA’s recent research which looked into the coronavirus impact on the supply chain and what they discovered as to how we can meet the needs of the supply chain to keep everyone in rail going during these unprecedented times.

With discussion ranging from Network Rail, suppliers, keeping people working and more, Kate’s desire for keeping the industry going is clear.

Find out why Kate thinks the 30-year plan is important for the likes of SMEs growing and how she believes the industry needs to respond to prepare for the future.
