Transport Focus releases updates on future research
Transport Focus has today released its Transport User Voice document, which includes updates for passengers on the organisation’s work to improve services for customers.
It includes information about passengers’ demands and priorities for the new franchisee for South Eastern, as well as a reminder to people affected by the ongoing strike action on Southern to remember to claim compensation before the scheme closes on Sunday 30 April.
The passenger watchdog also announced a number of publications that are expected to be published in the next few months.
These include the National Rail Passenger Survey, as well as the Tram Passenger Survey and a study into the views and experiences of passengers on the East Midlands franchise.
Transport Focus also gave an update into its work representing passengers on GWR, as key electrification work continues on the Great Western main line.
It stated: “We’re working to ensure GWR retains the support of its passengers, by ensuring it takes full account of passengers’ needs when planning and undertaking engineering work. Using our research and wider insight we seek to provide the passenger perspective in the rail industry planning process.
“This year will see even more engineering work being undertaken so it’s critical that passengers receive accurate and useful information at least 12 weeks in advance. We’ve been working to ensure GWR passengers can make informed decisions about their travel plans and have the help and support needed from staff during the disruption.”
The watchdog will also publish research into passenger experiences on the Wales and Borders rail service, as well as an update on previous research into understanding the top priorities for rail improvement and general trust from customers in the rail industry.
