Hitachi Rail has been awarded the signalling contract for the construction of the new NS3A and NS6 MRT stations on Singapore's North-South Line, further strengthening its long-standing partnership with the Land Transport Authority.
The contract will see Hitachi Rail deliver the signalling works required to integrate the two new stations into the operational metro network. The project will be undertaken by the company's Singapore-based team, drawing on extensive expertise in system integration, testing and commissioning to ensure the new infrastructure is introduced seamlessly while maintaining high levels of operational performance and passenger service reliability.
The scheme will utilise Hitachi Rail's SELTRAC™ Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) technology, a proven signalling platform already deployed on major metro networks across cities including Singapore, New York, London and Hong Kong.
Under the project, signalling systems for NS3A, an infill station on the existing North-South Line, and NS6, which will serve as a future interchange with the Downtown Line 2 extension, will be integrated into the current railway infrastructure. The work is designed to maintain safe and reliable passenger operations throughout the implementation phase.
Once completed, NS6 will play a key role in supporting future network growth, improving connectivity and providing greater operational flexibility across Singapore's expanding rail system.
The latest award represents another significant milestone in the long-running collaboration between Hitachi Rail and the Land Transport Authority. It also highlights the company's continued commitment to supporting Singapore's ambitious rail expansion programme through advanced signalling integration, network modernisation and system upgrade expertise.
With demand for urban mobility continuing to grow, the project reinforces Hitachi Rail's position as a leading supplier of digital signalling solutions that help metro operators deliver safe, reliable and resilient railway services.
Alfredo Drago, Head of APAC Region SRS at Hitachi Rail, said:
