RTM365: The future of rail safety and passenger safety

Despite being one of Europe's safest railways, major and fatal accidents do occur.

Everything we do is focused on keeping people and communities safe.

If the railways are not properly utilised by the public, they pose a considerable risk.

Our railways are designed with passenger safety in mind, but there is still work to be done to improve passenger safety on platforms, in stations, at level crossings, and to raise public awareness about the dangers of trespassing.

The RTM365 virtual event held on 24th Feb brought industry leaders together to discuss how we move forward in the future of rail safety. The event was opened by Keynote Speaker, Dr Stuart Smith, Lead Ergonomist at HS2 Ltd followed by a panel discussion which focused on keeping passengers safe with Obhiye Uduebor MSc, CMIOSH, Prince2 Agile, Principal Health & Safety Manager at Network Rail, Olivia Cayley, Head of Rail Programme at Samaritans and Ian Meredith, Operations Standards Manager, West Coast Railways.
