ECML overhead wire disruption

Thousands of passengers were stranded last night as overhead wire damage led to trains being cancelled on the East Coast Main Line.

Trains between London and Edinburgh on the ECML were cancelled from yesterday afternoon, and passengers were advised to use replacement services or travel the next day if possible.

A message from rail service providers East Coast, First Capital Connect, Grand Central and First Hull Trains stated: “Overhead wire problems are causing disruption between Stevenage and Hitchin.”

National Rail warned there would be disruption between Stevenage and Hitchin in Hertfordshire this morning. Delays were expected of up to 30 minutes between Kings Cross and Moorgate in London and Peterborough and Cambridge.
