Boris Johnson: Public transport restrictions relaxed

Today (17 July) Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has announced guidance on using public transport is to be relaxed in England as lockdown restrictions are eased further.

During a news conference at Downing Street he hoped the country would return to “significant” normality by Christmas this year.

In the announcement, Mr Johnson said that the government was making it clear to people in England they may use public transport now.

Responding to the Prime Minister’s statement, Robert Nisbet, Director of Nations and Regions at the Rail Delivery Group said: “The railway is vital to economic recovery and train companies will play their part by helping people travel safely.

"As part of our safer travel pledge we are adding more trains, improving journey information and boosting cleaning, while asking passengers to travel at quieter times and wear a face covering.”
