Stations light up blue as NHS turns 72

In celebration of the NHS turning 72 over the weekend (July 4th) stations across the country were lit up blue.

The four major transport hubs in Network Rail’s North West and Central region, Birmingham New Street, Liverpool Lime Street, Manchester Piccadilly and Euston station joined numerous other railway landmarks and buildings across the country to #LightUpBlue.

Staff station also took part in a national one-off clap on Sunday evening to pay tribute to all care professionals who have helped to save lives during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Managing Director for Network Rail’s North West and Central region, Tim Shoveller, said: “Once again it’ll be a privilege to join the rest of the railway industry to, quite literally, shine a light on the herculean effort being made by thousands of healthcare professionals working to save lives every day at this time of national crisis.

“We will continue to show how proud we are of the NHS and help in any way we can during the ongoing fight against the spread of Covid-19.”
