Hendy to deliver keynote speech at UKRIA 2017
Network Rail’s chairman, Sir Peter Hendy, is to deliver what will undoubtedly be an enjoyable and lively keynote address at the 2017 edition of the UK Rail Industry Awards (UKRIA).
Sir Peter, who replaced Richard Parry-Jones at the organisation last year, published his much-anticipated review of the infrastructure owner’s investment programme in early 2016.
At the recent edition of Infrarail, the former Transport for London Commissioner gave an interesting speech on how future rail upgrades will need greater financial investment – we expect this keynote to be just as interesting.
UKRIA director Roy C Rowlands said: “We look forward to welcoming Sir Peter at UKRIA 2017 and what will no doubt be a scintillating and informative speech.”
It is the second time in the four-year history of UKRIA that a Network Rail chairman will deliver the event’s keynote. Back in 2014, Richard Parry-Jones described it as a “fantastic showcase for what’s best in the industry”. Other previous headline speakers have included Phil Hufton, Network Rail’s managing director of Network Operations, and Peter Wilkinson, the managing director for passenger services at the DfT’s Rail Executive.
