Piccadilly signalling knocked out by lightning
A lightning strike in Manchester has led to huge disruptions at Piccadilly station this morning. Trains are beginning to move again, but severe delays are still affecting a large number of services.
The stormy weather has also led to flooding and other delays across the network.
Manchester Piccadilly’s signalling system was disrupted by the lightning, affecting six operators. TfGM Metrolink services are also disrupted after a lightning strike at its depot on Queen’s Road.
Road replacement services are in place for rail passengers, who are advised to check National Rail Enquiries before travelling.
