£250m HS2 work package puts firms on alert

High Speed Two (HS2) Ltd has placed ground investigation firms on alert for a £250m package of work for phase two of the project, north of Birmingham.

HS2 is planning to brief firms about the package in a webinar on July 9th ahead of inviting tenders for a chief ground investigation partner and several contractors.

The work is expected to be split into packages covering four main sections:

  • Crewe to Manchester
  • Birmingham (Rugeley) to Crewe
  • Lichfield to Sheffield
  • Sheffield to Leeds

A formal invitation to tender will be issued in January 2021.

The work could run for eight years and will give geotechnical and geo-environmental risk assessments necessary for the planning and design submissions.

Firms have until July 3rd to register their interest for the webinar. Click here to register.
