New Director appointed at CrossCountry

Steve Hopkinson has been appointed Service Delivery Director for CrossCountry.

Hopkinson will oversee the operations team, and lead on the delivery for customers, ensuring that high quality and effective service is maintained.

Hopkinson begun his career in regional rail, becoming a conductor. Progressing through several positions over the years, he then held roles at leadership level at various TOC’s, including London Midland, Arriva Rail and First Capital Connect. Hopkinson then found himself at Northern, where he held responsibility for strategic development and the delivery of multiple operations and schemes at the operator.

Progressing further still, his most recent role has been as operations director at Network Rail, where he led on the planning and strategy for several key infrastructure projects as well as operational support on the East Midlands route.

Tom Joyner, managing director at CrossCountry said: “Steve joins CrossCountry at an exciting time where we have just begun our journey on the new National Rail Contract. His leadership will be vital in providing stability to the business and improving performance. With his vast experience I look forward to working with him to drive the business forward.”

CrossCountry has a presence on multiple routes in the U.K, where it runs services on the East Coast and West Coast mainlines alongside operating services in Scotland.

Hopkinson will leave Network Rail in the Spring before taking up his role with CrossCountry.
