New unlimited WiFi unveiled at Edinburgh Waverley station

Fast and free unlimited WiFi has been unveiled for passengers at Edinburgh Waverley station.

The new unlimited WiFi is fast enough to support video calls and will allow passengers to access streaming services.

Network Rail’s upgraded services uses the latest technology allowing passengers to connect multiple devices without the need to create an account.

The new service is certified as ‘Friendly WiFi’ and therefore complies with the Government’s safe filtering standards and is child friendly.

Network Rail state that passengers have often identified free WiFi as on of the key areas in which to improve the station experience.

The free WiFi service is being rolled out at Network Rail managed stations nationwide.

Further improvements are also underway at Edinburgh Waverley station in an attempt to provide better passenger facilities.

A complete refurbishment of the toilets and the installation of a Changing Place facility are set to be undertaken.

A new through route connecting the east concourse (platforms 2-5) to the ticket hall is also under construction.

Patrick Henry, Station Manager at Edinburgh Waverley spoke on how the new WiFi and further improvements will improve the passenger experience.

Mr Henry said: “We are delighted to offer passengers at Edinburgh Waverley access to fast and free WiFi.

“Surveys have regularly identified this as something passengers have been asking for at the station and we have delivered.

“We are confident that it will be welcomed and well-used as people return to the railway in ever increasing numbers post-pandemic.”
