LOROL appoints new HR director

London Overground Rail Operations Limited (LOROL), which operates the London Overground on behalf of Transport for London (TfL), has appointed Carol Poole as its new HR director.

She has more than 25 years of experience in all aspects of strategic and operational HR and change management, having worked at organisations including Tube Lines, British Standards and Nettec PLC.

Carol Image 1 resize 635615833333675000She has been working at LOROL since 2012, having held a number of positions including change and mobilisation manager. She took up her new role last week, replacing Darren Hockaday, who left to head up the HR at Gatwick Airport.

LOROL said Poole was “instrumental” in the delivery of change programmes including Driver Only Operation and the acquisition of West Anglia inner services.

She reports to MD Peter Austin, a contributor to RTM, who said: “We’re incredibly pleased that Carol has joined the LOROL team. Carol brings great experience with her and her role will be integral as we get ourselves in a position to meet the challenge of the next London Overground concession, with the aim of delivering the best rail service in London.”

She said: “Our people are our biggest asset and we place them at the heart of everything we do, so my focus will be on supporting and developing employees to ensure that we continue to meet and in fact exceed the expectations of our customers and our client.”

LOROL is a joint venture between Deutsche Bahn (DB) and MTR Corporation. A number of former LOROL staff are heading up the new MTR executive team to run Crossrail operations. More in the print edition of RTM.
