CrossCountry to enhance passenger experience with new appointment

Rail operator CrossCounty have announced the appointment of a new Service Delivery Director who will look to enhance passenger experience on the operators’ network.

Mark Goodall is set to take over the role as he leaves his role as Operations Director with Chiltern Railways.

Mr Goodall brings vast experience to the role having worked in numerous roles across the rail industry.

One of these roles include Head of Alliancing at West Midlands Trains where he formed key relationships with Network Rail, Birmingham University and West Midlands Rail Executive.

Through working in roles like this Mr Goodall has gained widespread experience in putting rail passengers at the heart of what he does.

Mr Goodall will have full responsibility for CrossCountry’s operational strategy and will play a huge role in delivering a more reliable timetable.

Tom Joyner, Managing Director at CrossCountry commented on what Mr Goodall will bring to his new role.

Mr Joyner said: “Mr Goodall brings significant operational experience and leadership to CrossCountry, which will be vital as we attract customers back to rail.

“Our industry and our business are changing and appointments like Mark place us in a strong position to be at the forefront of that positive change.”

Speaking on his appointment Mr Goodall said: “CrossCountry is unique in that it spans the length and breadth of Great Britain, connecting dozens of towns and cities on the way.

“I am looking forward to working with Tom and the wider CrossCountry team to positively change the way our train service is delivered across Great Britain.”

The appointment marks CrossCountry’s business move to strengthen its presence as a nationwide operator following the appointment of four regional directors in 2020.

Mr Goodall is set to join the business in the early summer.
