Essential maintenance work on the Fleetwood tramway will see services temporarily terminate at Fisherman’s Walk for up to three weeks, as major upgrades take place ahead of the busy summer season.
During the works, the Fleetwood Ferry, Victoria Street, and London Street tram stops will be closed while engineers deliver “vital maintenance” to improve reliability and long‑term performance of the line. Despite the closures, a 15‑minute service will continue operating between Fisherman’s Walk and Starr Gate, just south of Blackpool town centre.
Steve Staley, Tramway Operations and Safety Manager, said:
“In advance of the works, we would like to apologise for any inconvenience to customers who will need to complete their journeys by using our bus services.”

The remainder of the tram network will continue to operate according to the existing timetable when the works begin on Sunday, March 15.
Steve added:
“We will be working as quickly as possible to reopen this short section of the tramway as soon as we can, and hope to restore a full service during the busy Easter holidays. In the meantime, we would also like to thank customers for their patience and understanding.”
The upgrades form part of wider investment across the Blackpool and Fleetwood network, ensuring resilience as operators prepare for peak passenger demand later in the year.
