HS2 online jobs board reaches landmark milestone

The HS2 jobs board which advertises vacancies from HS2’s construction partners has promoted over 2,000 jobs in its first year.

The digital platform was launched in January 2021 and offers opportunities with HS2’s construction partners delivering the London – Birmingham leg of the railway.

A total of 2004 vacancies have been advertised on the HS2 jobs board since it was launched last year.

Over 700 opportunities have been posted in both the West Midlands and Greater London and around 600 in the central region covering Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.

A small number of vacancies were also posted on the jobs board in the North West and South West.

HS2 Minister, Andrew Stephenson spoke on the landmark achieved by HS2 and its construction partners and station contractors.

Mr Stephenson said: “It’s our responsibility to ensure HS2 creates thousands of long-lasting jobs across the entire nation.

“Advertising 2000 jobs in just one year is a huge achievement and shows that we’re delivering on our promises of boosting the economy and levelling up the country.”

The jobs board was launched alongside HS2’s brokerage partnership model.

This brings local authorities, enterprise partnerships, charities and employment support services together along the first phase of HS2.

HS2’s job brokerage partners refer local people from disadvantaged and underrepresented groups into jobs with HS2 and its partners.

HS2 commented on the importance of the jobs board and the job brokerage partnership.

Rebecca Young, HS2’s Skills and Employment Strategy Manager said: “[The partnership] is playing a crucial role in ensuring we have the workforce in place we need to deliver HS2.

“With 20,000 jobs already supported and around 14,000 more roles expected, it will continue to play a vital role… as we extend Britain’s new railway to the North.”

The HS2 Skills, Employment and Education team is working with the supply chain to allow tier two contractors to upload vacancies to the jobs board.

Over 250 vacancies are currently live on the jobs board and details of all the latest vacancies and opportunities can be found on the HS2 website.
