The Light Rail Safety and Standards Board (LRSSB) has strengthened its senior leadership team with the appointment of experienced commercial specialist Phil Hudson as its new Head of Commercial Services.
Hudson joins the organisation with more than two decades of experience in sales leadership, business development and advertising, bringing a proven track record of delivering sustainable revenue growth across highly competitive markets.
In his new role, he will lead the development and delivery of LRSSB’s long-term commercial strategy, helping the organisation build new partnerships across the UK and internationally while supporting its mission to improve tramway safety standards and reduce operational risks throughout the light rail sector.
Prior to joining LRSSB, Hudson held a number of senior commercial positions at Communicorp UK, working across the company’s portfolio of commercial radio stations and helping to drive revenue growth and strategic business partnerships.

The appointment comes at a significant stage in LRSSB’s development as the organisation continues to expand its activities and influence across the UK light rail industry.
Born and raised in Newcastle and a passionate sports fan, Hudson said he is eager to contribute to the next phase of the organisation’s growth.

As LRSSB continues to broaden the scope of its operations, Hudson’s commercial expertise is expected to play a key role in supporting future growth, strengthening industry partnerships and enhancing the organisation’s ability to deliver its safety and standards objectives.
