SYSTRA, a global leader in engineering and mobility consultancy, has announced the acquisition of Ardanuy Ingeniería, a respected Spanish firm specialising in rail systems, metro, and urban transport. This strategic move brings over 350 new specialists into the SYSTRA fold, bolstering its teams across Spain, Portugal, Hispanic America, India, and the Baltic region.
This signals a significant strengthening of SYSTRA’s international capabilities—particularly in transport systems and infrastructure. The acquisition enhances the Group’s technical depth and geographic reach, reinforcing its ability to deliver complex, high-performance rail projects worldwide.
SYSTRA’s expanded footprint will support major public and private sector initiatives, including metro systems in Santiago, Bogotá, Panama, Madrid, Bilbao, and Barcelona; road concessions in Peru, Colombia, and Chile; and high-speed rail developments in Portugal and Spain. These projects reflect the Group’s growing influence in regions where rail and urban mobility are undergoing rapid transformation.
This latest acquisition follows the successful integration of Subterra, a Spanish tunnelling and underground structures specialist, acquired in March 2023. Together, these moves demonstrate SYSTRA’s commitment to building a robust, multidisciplinary team capable of tackling the most ambitious infrastructure challenges.
Jean-Charles Vollery, CEO of the SYSTRA Group, commented:
Carlos Alonso, CEO of Ardanuy Ingeniería, added:
“Joining the SYSTRA Group makes perfect sense for our company: we share the same passion for technical excellence, with expertise that is both closely aligned and highly complementary. We are building an organisation with a clear vision for the future, capable of offering new development perspectives for our teams and creating synergies for the benefit of our clients across all the regions in which we operate.”
This development underscores SYSTRA’s continued investment in global expertise and innovation—an approach that aligns with the UK’s own ambitions for modern, sustainable transport infrastructure. The Group’s commitment to delivering high-performance solutions remains central to its mission of transforming mobility for communities and regions around the world.
