Metro Ligero Oeste (MLO), a leading transport operator in Madrid, has recently signed a significant contract with Alstom, a global leader in smart and sustainable mobility solutions. This partnership aims to modernise and enhance the performance of the Citadis tram fleet, which has been serving Madrid since 2007.
The contract encompasses a mid-life general overhaul of MLO's 27 Alstom Citadis trams. This extensive project involves the inspection and maintenance of critical components, including:
- Braking systems
- Bogies (motor and trailer)
- Circuit breakers
- Vehicle couplings
- Inter-car shock absorbers
- Emergency brake control unit
By optimising maintenance processes and guaranteeing the quality of service, this collaboration between MLO and Alstom prioritizes passenger safety and operational efficiency. The overhaul of critical systems will contribute to:
The process will be implemented in two phases:
- Phase 1 (2025): Focus on the braking system
- Phase 2 (2026): Overhaul of additional equipment
Alstom's industrial site in Pinto, Madrid, will play a pivotal role in engineering, testing, and fine-tuning the equipment, underscoring the commitment of both companies to quality and safety.
