Passengers can once again travel between Twyford and Henley-on-Thames as train services have resumed, following the completion of essential engineering work by Network Rail.
Over the past five days, teams worked around the clock to upgrade a 100-metre stretch of track on the branch line. This included replacing rails, sleepers, and ballast to ensure the railway continues to operate safely and reliably.
To carry out the improvements efficiently and safely, the line was temporarily closed. With the work now complete, trains are back in service.
Network Rail programme director Jason Pankhurst said:
"We’ve worked non-stop to ensure this project was successfully completed and to get trains moving again."
“It’s essential we continue to maintain the railway and replace equipment that’s reached the end of its working life to keep journeys safe and reliable.”
