Amey has secured its first major contract with Irish Rail after being appointed to the operator’s Signalling, Electrification and Telecoms (SET) Implementation Partner Framework, strengthening its position within the Irish rail market and marking a significant milestone in the company’s long-term growth strategy across Ireland.
The high-value framework agreement will run for eight years and positions Amey as a key delivery partner for Irish Rail, supporting rail infrastructure projects across the Republic of Ireland. Through the arrangement, Amey will provide specialist engineering expertise, multidisciplinary design services and deliver signalling, electrification and telecommunications works on a project-by-project basis.
The framework covers the entire project lifecycle, from early-stage design, planning and project management through to installation, testing and commissioning. The appointment is expected to play a vital role in supporting Irish Rail’s ambitions to develop a safer, more resilient and future-ready railway network.

The contract represents a notable step forward for Amey’s rail business in Ireland and further strengthens its relationship with the country’s transport sector. The company has already established a presence through its involvement in the Luas operations and maintenance contract, delivered via its joint venture partnership with Keolis.
By securing the SET framework, Amey becomes a strategic partner in the modernisation and enhancement of Ireland’s national railway infrastructure, with opportunities to support a broad portfolio of future rail investment projects over the coming years.
