Avanti West Coast launch Train Driver recruitment campaign

Avanti West Coast has launched a recruitment campaign as they look to recruit 40 new train drivers across the country.

The operator is looking to recruit 40 new Train Drivers in 2022 at various locations across the UK.

As part of the campaign Avanti West Coast are encouraging more women to consider the role as a realistic career path.

Applications for the first ten posts opened earlier this month.

Successful applicants are required to be over 20 years and six months of age when applying for one of the positions.

Applicants must also live within an hour of their designated depot and meet the required medical standards.

Richard Morrow, Head of Drivers at Avanti West Coast spoke on the new opportunities available at Avanti West Coast.

Mr Morrow said: “Train driving is a wonderful career, one that carries a lot of responsibility and job satisfaction.

“Whilst the application process is competitive, if you think you have what it takes, then we’d love to hear from you.”

Avanti West Coast held an online Train Driver Q&A session with newly qualified driver Hayley Richardson who spoke about her experience.

Over 1,000 people signed up to the Q&A session in which Hayley spoke about her training and what it’s like to drive a train at 125mph.
