A major step forward has been taken in the delivery of Dublin’s MetroLink, as Alstom and partners FCC, John Laing, Meridiam, and RATP Dev formally establish a consortium to bid for the design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance of the transformative transport scheme.
The consortium has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and is now preparing for the pre-qualification and bidding phases of the project, which will deliver Ireland’s first fully automated, driverless metro system.
Spanning 18.8km, much of it underground, MetroLink will:
- Provide a direct rail connection between Dublin city centre and the airport
- Improve connectivity across the Greater Dublin Area
- Reduce congestion and enhance sustainability
- Support economic growth and urban mobility
The project is one of Ireland’s most ambitious infrastructure investments, designed to meet growing transport demands and future-proof the capital’s transit network.
Piers Wood, Alstom’s Ireland Managing Director, said:
“Alstom is proud to partner with FCC, Meridiam, John Laing and RATP Dev to bid for MetroLink, a landmark project for Ireland’s future. Our consortium represents an ideal mix of technical expertise, operational know-how and financial strength, ensuring a world-class metro system that will benefit the Greater Dublin Area for generations to come."

The consortium brings together world-class capabilities:
- Alstom: Global leader in integrated transport systems and metro technology
- FCC: Civil engineering specialist with experience in large-scale infrastructure
- RATP Dev: Expert in high-capacity urban rail operations and maintenance
- Meridiam and John Laing: Renowned infrastructure investors with long-term financial expertise
Together, the group offers a powerful combination of technical capability, project management, financial strength, and local knowledge, essential for delivering a project of this scale and complexity.
