A milestone has been reached by a Pendolino train on Avanti's West Coast route.
Named "Flying Scouseman" by readers of the Liverpool Echo in 2017, the train recently surpassed two million miles of service on the West Coast Main Line. This achievement was marked during a journey from Liverpool Lime Street to London Euston.
As part of Avanti West Coast's fleet, Flying Scouseman has been a consistent presence on the route, making numerous trips between major cities like Liverpool, Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Birmingham.
Stacy Thundercliffe, Head of Fleet and Engineering at Avanti West Coast, expressed pride in the train's accomplishments:
“Flying Scouseman has proudly been flying the flag for Liverpool, and travelled the equivalent of more than eight times to the moon and back."
The Pendolino fleet, which Flying Scouseman belongs to, has recently undergone a significant refurbishment. This upgrade has introduced various improvements for passengers, including:
- New, ergonomic seats in Standard Class
- Increased Standard Class seating capacity
- An onboard shop
- Improved lighting
- Refurbished First Class and Standard Premium seats
- Passenger information screens
- Additional luggage space
- Power points at every seat
- Refurbished toilets
- Sustainable British wool carpets
With Flying Scouseman's impressive mileage and the recent improvements to the Pendolino fleet, Avanti West Coast continues to provide enhanced travel experiences for its customers.
