The High Speed Rail Group has announced Dyan Perry, the former head of HS1 Ltd as the Group’s new chair.

In the new role, Perry will offer an independent voice and perspective to the High Speed Rail Group as well as shaping the board of directors overall direction.

Perry is no stranger to the industry. As well as serving as the CEO of HS1, Perry was also COO of Govia Thameslink Railways and worked in various roles at Network Rail. Dyan Perry

Perry was the first female managing director of a train operating company in the country. She was also the managing director for the largest route whilst at Network Rail. She received an OBE in September 2023 and left her role at HS1 Ltd in January.

Commenting on the appointment, Perry said: “I am delighted to be joining the High Speed Rail Group as Chair and look forward to working with the wide range of industry leaders within the group to help create a well-connected and sustainable rail network that empowers people, businesses and communities to thrive.”

The High Speed Rail Group represents groups from across the rail sector who have an interest in high-speed rail and work towards the delivery of a world-class high-speed rail network in Britain, alongside championing innovation and the development of high-speed services which has included helping deliver on some of the major infrastructure projects in rail over the years.

“High speed rail is about more than quicker journey times. Its development stimulates economic activity by creating jobs and encouraging private investment in related industries like technology, urban development and logistics, and as such is an important driver of regional and national economic growth.”, Perry added.
