LNER has enhanced its onboard digital platform by introducing multiple language options, helping international and domestic passengers access vital travel information more easily as World Tourism Day approaches.
The train operator has upgraded its ‘All Onboard’ portal, which can be accessed by scanning QR codes located on the back of every seat. The platform provides passengers with a range of journey-related services, including live travel updates, onboard food and drink ordering, station information, journey planning tools, and access to the LNER Perks loyalty programme.
As part of the latest improvements, customers can now view information in German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish and Simplified Chinese, alongside English, making the service more accessible for visitors travelling across the UK rail network.
The move comes ahead of World Tourism Day on 27 September, a global initiative promoting accessible and inclusive travel experiences.

LNER has also introduced a simple way for customers to identify multilingual members of staff. Many colleagues now display country flags on their name badges, allowing passengers to quickly recognise team members who can provide support in different languages.
"Every year we welcome customers from across the UK and around the world onboard our trains. We know that English may not be everyone's first language, and that many people may be unfamiliar with the UK rail network, so we're really pleased to be making our onboard portal available in a number of languages. This update is a brilliant way for our customers to access travel information while travelling with us, and to help them to travel with greater confidence."
Nick Bibby, Customer Experience Improvement Manager at LNER, said the enhanced service aims to improve confidence and accessibility for passengers travelling across the East Coast Main Line.
The multilingual upgrade forms part of LNER's wider commitment to improving customer experience, ensuring passengers can easily access real-time travel information and onboard services regardless of their preferred language.
