M Group has been awarded a major five‑year contract by Transport for London (TfL) to deliver the maintenance of bridges and civil structures across the London Underground network, following a competitive procurement process.
The contract, which commenced on 8 April 2026, includes an option to extend for a further three years, potentially running through to March 2034. The award reinforces M Group’s position as a trusted partner in the delivery and stewardship of safety‑critical rail infrastructure.
Under the agreement, M Group will be responsible for the delivery of both planned preventative and reactive maintenance services across TfL’s portfolio of bridges and civil structures, excluding trackside activities. The scope of works focuses on maintaining asset integrity, improving resilience and ensuring the continued safe operation of the Underground network.
Maintenance activities will cover a wide range of assets, including brick tunnels, covered ways, steel girders and associated cable infrastructure. This will be supported by scheduled interventions such as four‑yearly condition assessments, the replacement of defective assets and a rapid response capability to address emerging faults or damage, helping to minimise disruption to passengers and operations.
In addition to hands‑on maintenance, the contract will see M Group provide strategic support for inspection planning and asset health governance, supporting TfL’s wider objectives around long‑term asset management and network resilience.
The award recognises M Group’s technical expertise and experience in delivering safety‑critical rail infrastructure services, as well as its ability to offer strong value for money across complex, operationally sensitive environments.
Mike Evans, Rail and Aviation Managing Director at M Group, said:
“This award is a significant milestone for M Group and highlights the expertise and commitment of our team.”
“We’re proud to play a leading role in maintaining the safety and reliability of London’s transport network, supporting millions of daily journeys.”
M Group said it is looking forward to continuing its collaboration with TfL, working in alignment with the authority’s strategic priorities to deliver resilient, safe and reliable infrastructure, and to help ensure smoother journeys for passengers across the capital.
