Siemens Mobility is strengthening its European rail services operation with the construction of a new state-of-the-art Rail Service Centre in Gądki, near Poznań, Poland. Scheduled to open in 2027, the facility will enhance locomotive maintenance capabilities across Poland and the wider Central and Eastern European rail market.
The new depot represents a significant investment in rail infrastructure and aftersales support, reinforcing Siemens Mobility's commitment to providing customers with reliable, technology-driven maintenance solutions throughout the lifecycle of their fleets.
Spanning approximately 4,300 square metres, the facility will be capable of servicing up to seven locomotives simultaneously. The site will feature around five kilometres of electrified track, advanced workshop equipment, an underfloor wheel lathe, a dropping table, and a dedicated testing area designed to improve operational efficiency and asset reliability.
Digital maintenance processes will be powered by Railigent X, Siemens Mobility's digital applications and services platform. The system is designed to streamline maintenance activities, optimise asset performance, and help maximise fleet availability for operators throughout the region.

Strengthening a Global Rail Service Network
Siemens Mobility already operates one of the rail industry's most extensive service networks, providing maintenance, engineering support and lifecycle services to customers worldwide.
The new Polish facility will expand maintenance capacity across Central and Eastern Europe, giving operators faster access to both routine and specialist services. Its capabilities will include light and heavy maintenance activities, scheduled inspections, safety system servicing, major overhauls, vehicle modifications, accident repairs, and mobile support services.
Sustainability has also been built into the project from the outset, with Siemens Mobility planning for the depot to operate on a carbon-neutral basis.
Building on Established Expertise in Poland
The investment builds on more than 15 years of Siemens Mobility locomotive maintenance experience in Poland.
Today, more than 60 specialists support several hundred locomotives each year, including Vectron, Taurus and BR189-F4 fleets. Existing maintenance operations already utilise digital fleet management, spare-parts planning and Railigent X technologies to improve performance and availability.
Since achieving ECM certification in Poland in 2021, Siemens Mobility has further enhanced its capabilities in maintenance management, engineering support and fleet lifecycle services. The new Rail Service Centre will consolidate these activities while significantly expanding local capacity and technical expertise.
Supporting Regional Rail Growth
The development is being delivered with support from regional stakeholders, including the Marshal's Office of the Wielkopolska Voivodeship, the Municipality of Kórnik and the Zakłady Kórnickie Foundation.
Beyond increasing maintenance capacity, the project is expected to strengthen local rail engineering expertise, support the development of multi-system locomotive maintenance capabilities and contribute to the continued growth of sustainable rail transport across Poland and the wider Central and Eastern European region.
As rail freight and passenger operators continue to modernise fleets and demand higher availability levels, Siemens Mobility's latest investment positions Poland as an increasingly important hub within the company's expanding European service network.
