Suzanne Grant has been appointed Interim Managing Director of Merseyrail, taking charge of the operator while current Managing Director Neil Grabham undertakes an interim assignment as Managing Director at East Midlands Railway. The appointment will run through to April 2027.
Having worked closely with Suzanne Grant for many years, Neil Grabham has expressed full confidence in her ability to provide stability and continuity during the transition period.
A respected figure within the business, Suzanne Grant has spent more than a decade helping shape the future of the Liverpool City Region rail network. She joined Merseyrail in 2012 as Marketing Manager and has progressed through a series of senior leadership positions, including Commercial Director, before being appointed Chief Commercial Officer and Deputy Managing Director in 2024.
Throughout her career with the operator, she has played a key role in enhancing the customer experience, supporting station teams and driving the company’s commercial strategy. Her work has also included close collaboration with the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority on major passenger-focused initiatives, including the successful rollout of Tap & Go ticketing across the region in 2025.
As Interim Managing Director, Suzanne Grant will oversee the ongoing delivery of a reliable and high-quality railway service, with a continued focus on passengers, communities and operational performance.
