TransCityRail (TCR) has once again demonstrated its commitment to making a positive impact through its recent event in Manchester. By selecting Railway Children as the charity beneficiary, TCR has significantly contributed to the welfare of vulnerable children. The recent silent auction, organised by Impulse Decisions, raised over £5,000, a testament to the generosity and support of TCR’s community.
This substantial donation will have a profound effect on Railway Children’s operations. It will fund one of their 24-hour Child Help Desks in India for six months, providing essential services such as water, food, medical care, and staff support to children. Additionally, the funds will support a year of one-to-one assistance for a vulnerable child or young person in the UK, helping them embark on a journey towards a safer and brighter future.
One poignant example of the impact of such support is the story of Zoe. At 14, Zoe was found by British Transport Police at the edge of railway tracks, contemplating ending her life. Railway Children intervened, offering her the support she desperately needed. Through their efforts, Zoe received the right support, built her confidence, and overcame significant challenges, including bullying and financial difficulties at home. Thanks to the continued support from organisations like TCR, Zoe now has a brighter outlook and a promising future.
The success of this initiative highlights the importance of corporate partnerships in driving social change. TCR’s dedication to supporting Railway Children not only provides immediate relief but also fosters long-term positive outcomes for vulnerable children. As TCR looks forward to its Midlands event in February, the organisation remains committed to making a difference and ensuring that every child has the opportunity for a better future.
