Flash flooding causes landslip in Yorkshire
Trains in Yorkshire will be disrupted for the rest of the day as engineers work to repair damage caused by flash flooding.
The flooding washed away the ballast under a small section of line near Baildon yesterday afternoon.
Passengers travelling on Northern services between Bradford Forster Square and Ilkley will break their journey by taking a replacement bus service.
Richard Allan, commercial director at Northern, said: “We are working with our colleagues at Network Rail to minimise disruption and return services to normal as soon as we can.”
The Northern line between Appleby and Carlisle suffered a 500,000 tonne landslip on 31 January. The line was originally due to reopen by March but is still closed while Network Rail engineers work to restabilise the site.
