Punctuality edges up to 93.5% for period 2
National train performance reached 93.5% for period 2, new data shows, up from 93% the period before.
The figures cover the period from 28 April – 25 May, and are up from 92.3% in the same period last year.
The Moving Annual Average (MAA) is now at 91.0%.
The best performing franchise was c2c, with 98.2% PPM and a MAA of 97.3%. The worst performing franchise was Virgin Rail, with PPM of 85.7% and MAA at 83.7%.
Infrastructure problems, overhead line and signalling equipment, caused the majority of delays on the West Coast Main Line during the period thus impacting upon Virgin’s punctuality. A series of measures to address performance on the Southern end of the route will be announced in the next few weeks, Network Rail stated.
