RSSB appoints Barbara Moorhouse as new chair
The Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) has appointed Barbara Moorhouse as its new chair.
Moorhouse reportedly took over the role from 1 January and currently holds the position of non-executive director at Balfour Beatty, Microgen and Agility Trains.
Her executive career involves working as the director general at the Ministry of Justice and the DfT, as the chief operating officer for Westminster City Council, and she has had board appointments at a number of international IT companies.
The rail industry body said Moorhouse brings a broad range of expertise in commercial leadership and public service delivery.
RSSB CEO Mark Phillip commented: “The board is delighted Barbara has agreed to join RSSB as the new chair for the exciting period ahead to oversee implementation of our new five-year strategy to deliver a better, safer railway.
“We would like to thank Anna Bradley, who stepped down at the end of December for guiding RSSB through a significant change programme.”
Barbara herself said she was delighted to be appointed as the new chair of the RSSB board.
She stated: “Rail travel is central to my working week and I look forward to RSSB playing its full part in the industry at an important time for the future of the rail sector.”
Moorhouse takes over at the RSSB, which is a rail industry body that provides research, analysis and insight, working together with train and freight operating companies.
