Network Rail Consulting (NRC) has announced that Barny Daley, Global Technical Director has stepped down from his position effective 7th April 2025, with Mike Gallop stepping into the role as Global Technical Director and Regional Director, Middle East.
Barny has played a pivotal role in strengthening Network Rail Consulting’s collaborative relationship with Network Rail, enabling the sharing of knowledge and best practice between NRC's international clients and the operator of the UK railway. This transition will see Barny in a new role as Project Director, supporting the regional teams on project delivery.
Barny commented:
“I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the development of NRC, supporting the growth to three times the size of the company I joined.”
“I am proud that in everything we do, our clients are 98% satisfied or very satisfied and I look forward to continuing to support our regions with their growth and delivering high-quality advice to our clients.”
Mike joined NRC as Project Director in January 2023 and brings over 20 years of experience in leadership and the delivery of complex railway system programmes. Prior to joining NRC, Mike was Western Route Director at Network Rail, responsible for the enhancements programme and leading the implementation of strategic plans into operational delivery, including change management programmes and transformational safety initiatives.
In his new role, Mike will provide technical engineering and asset management expertise to NRC and our international clients, as well as leading and expanding the team in the Middle East.
Mike commented: "I look forward to working with the Global NRC Team to continue to develop the capabilities and capacity of the NRC business and provide great solutions to meet the challenges our clients’ face."
Nigel Ash, Global Managing Director added: "Barny has provided tremendous support to myself and the NRC business over the last 8 years, I will be sorry to see him step-back from the Global Technical Director role. However, I am delighted that we have someone with such wide ranging railway expertise and experience as Mike Gallop."
