Passengers using Tenby Station will soon enjoy easier and more inclusive journeys, thanks to Network Rail’s upcoming accessibility upgrades supported by the Department for Transport’s Access for All programme and the Welsh Government.
The project will see the construction of a brand-new footbridge with lifts, making the station fully accessible for disabled passengers, parents with pushchairs, and those carrying luggage. These improvements aim to encourage public transport use and reduce carbon emissions across the region.
Key details of the upgrade:
- Fully accessible footbridge with lifts for step-free access.
- Work begins December 2025, with site compound set up near the air cadet huts.
- Temporary reduction in station car park spaces during construction.
- Most work will take place during the day, with some overnight activity while the railway is closed for safety.
Helen Hodgson, Network Rail’s Senior Sponsor for the Wales and Borders Route, said:
“We’re delighted to be improving accessibility at Tenby Station, ensuring that all passengers can travel with confidence and independence.
“These upgrades will make a real difference for everyone using the station and reflects our commitment to building a more inclusive and sustainable railway for the communities we serve.”
The investment reflects Network Rail’s commitment to inclusive travel and supports wider goals to make rail journeys safer, greener and more convenient for all passengers.
