Alstom has announced that it has received the second highest rating on corporate social responsibility commitments in Canada.
By receiving the Corporate Social Responsibility Commitment Label, Confirmed, in Canada, Alstom now holds that recognition in eight nations. These include Australia, France, Italy, India, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
This comes in recognition of the organisation’s commitment to sustainable and responsible operations, as it embeds CSR into its strategic priorities, functions, and processes. Eight central themes formed the basis for this recognition, with those being:
- Vision and Governance
- Integration of social responsibility
- Human resources and labour practices
- Production methods
- Regional presence and community involvement
- Environmental indicators
- Social indicators
- Economic indicators
The report into Alstom’s CSR work, conducted by independent third-party body AFNOR (Association Française de Certification), found that Alstom Canada’s values are ‘real and concrete’ and that managers are able to provide the necessary levels of leadership daily. Through a motivated team, Alstom were also found to be able to achieve CSR goals in a ‘dynamic and passionate’ way.
Alstom Americas President, Michael Keroullé, said:
“In addition to our good governance, the report highlights the impact of our new Green Innovation Centre, our initiatives to diversify the industry including attracting and developing more women at all levels across our organisation, and our Community Ambassadors who lead CSR projects on our sites and in their communities.
“This label is a testimony to how our employees and leadership in Canada are embracing our social responsibilities.”
